Laos - Greater Mekong Subregion Power Trade Projects : resettlement plan

The Greater Mekong Sub-region Power Trade Project consists of mainly two construction works. One is the construction of a transmission line of 82km from Ban Hat substation to Stung Treng substation. Responsibility of the Laotian side is the 25.7km distance between Ban Hat Substation and the Lao-Cambodian border. The other construction work is the expansion of the existing Ban Hat Substation to connect the above-mentioned transmission lines. Based on the survey during the Initial Environmental Examination (IEE), no people will be resettled. Moreover, no structural assets, spiritual or cultural property will be affected. The main negative aspects will come from some permanent land losses and temporary land occupation. The affected people will be given every opportunity to have redress to their grievances.
