Watershed Development Approach is a low-cost technologies and its works are practical and feasible. Thus, it is formulated and adapted by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Rural Development of India. Nevertheless, the financial support for a watershed management programme is finite and therefore withdrawal by the project implementing agencies at a particular stage is definite. Hence, the suitable withdrawal strategy is essential to assure optimal land productivity on a sustainable basis. . The study shows that with the proper withdrawal strategies the soil loss reduced, the dependency on forest for fodder and fuel reduced sustained even after the withdrawal of the PIA.
